Dingtown (2008)
$14.99
Marty is poised to bust down the doors of Country music w/ his follow up CD – “Dingtown”. Dingtown” is a smoking hits collection that is destined to become an essential recording for any alternative country music fan.
This eclectic master work ignites w/ the high-kicking, country-pop spirit of “Wild Country”, a salute to a sassy country girl hell-bent on driving every man crazy. The CD then shifts gears w/ the sensuous, slow-burning “I Got a Brand New Love”, a Falle-Ruby combination that takes the listener on an amative rockabilly journey. This is followed by the bright country folkabilly song, “Fly Me Back”, where the twang factor is in full effect.
Next, Marty goes into the attic, and dusts off the traditional country western gem, “I am a Cowboy”. Written in Athens, Ohio, this Falle-Holmberg collaboration depicts the infamous Marlboro Man and all his faded glory. Farm eroticism takes the wheel w/ the waggish “Dingtown”. This humorous portrayal of fun in the rural Midwest is audacious and unbridled.
Then, the sensitive, ballad heavy side of Marty’s personality is showcased in the bare bones country duet, “I’ve Never Loved Like This Before”. This pash creation features a captivating performance by Nashville vocalist Heather Venesile. A tougher sound takes center stage w/ the gritty adrenaline rush of “The Cleveland Kid”. Marty combines references to Irish folklore, muscle cars and teenage glut to add color to this tragic story.
The hooky, jazz-inflected “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” is a Falle-Hagler joint effort that tells the story of a salesman’s visit to the Sin City. Deliciously sinful and silky smooth, “Vegas” hits a home run. Lastly, “Laissez le Bon temp rouler”! sets the mise en scène for the next track. Falle’s, “The Devil’s in N’Awlins” takes us on a Bourbon Street adventure. Written shortly before Katrina, and finished soon thereafter, this Cajun chef d'oeuvre shows what happens when the excess of Fat City meets natural disaster.
Falle’s roots emanate where the lush Cuyahoga Valley countryside meets the Cleveland rust-belt, and the totems bleed out w/ each melodic strain. “Dingtown” is a treasure-trove of Midwest Americana. Ride on Cleveland Kid!
