While attending Avon High School, Dave was awarded the Louise Armstrong jazz award for his work on the bass, the only underclassman to ever receive this award. At this time Dave began studying and performing with CSU music director Dr. Richard Holsworth. Dave was selected by audition to the Northeastern Ohio All star Jazz Band, where he studied with Duke Ellington Bassist and YSU music director Tony Leonardi.

Dave hit the road for a few years, performing in retro-dance bands, in almost every state east of the Mississippi, he opened for such acts as Blue Oyster Cult, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Mark Farner, The Fix & Creed, he also shared the stage for a few nights with Tommy James, of Mony Mony fame. After that, Dave worked on original music with Frank Romano and then Paul Vician. Moving to California, Dave landed a house gig performing for a year with, Melissa Etheridge guitarist / solo artist, Philip Sayce.

Adam Mercer

Adam says it best - "Rhythm is an inescapable part of life. The sun rises and sets, the tides move in and out, your heart beats, your lungs breath, you walk in rhythm. I began playing drums at the age of 8 and never stopped. I have been fortunate enough over the years to work with many talented individuals who taught me not just about music, but about interaction with others and life. The most important lesson throughout has been to be there for the song, not the individual. If what you are playing doesn't help the song and only serves your ego, does it really need to be there? Probably not. In 2002 I had the priveledge of working with Kevin "Caveman" Shirely at the now defunk Hit Factory NYC. He produced my band Cyde, which now is called SKIN. We are working on a new release. New and old songs from that lineup are on my player. Here, in no particular order are some of the artists that I have worked with.........Cyde/Skin, The DeMarco Brothers, Jani Lane (of Warrant), Kevin DuBrow (of Quiet Riot), Dave Brooks, Elijah Black, Hypocrit, Ligion, John Mercer, Colin John, Seven Oclock Chicken, The Vincent Ruby Trio, and more recording sessions than I can remember. Play musically, play for the song, and play like you mean it. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight."
